One of my default apps is Photoshop CC but no matter what I do, Disksomnia always picks Photoshop CS instead (I keep several iterations of Photoshop in my applications folder, just as installed). You can easily select which disks you wish to keep active, and there is an indicator to show when a disk is being written to. Works better than Keep Drive Spinning…with one caveat (also see follow-up note below), it will still “fall asleep” from time to time…even with Disksomnia running it every 55 seconds….which makes me wonder if it could be an inherent defect of the LaCie architecture or the buggy limitations of OS X Sierra, which was not built for creatives who have to work with a lot of images like I do.įollow up note: After using a few weeks, have discovered that it does not keep your settings upon reboot (even though the default file it saves is right there) and has strange behavior where it will pick another similar application to “keep running” other than the one you added. Disksomnia prevents hard drives from going to sleep by periodically writing files to the disk to keep it active. Not only that but windows on the LaCie backup drive pop open super fast now without the former lag (when before the LaCie would struggle to wake up). Sometimes my desktop would temporarily freeze-up or be subject to lengthy lags (when the LaCie backup was connected) but thanks to this nifty little app, it disconnects MUCH LESS often. I've gone into Mac energy settings and unchecked "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" and also checked "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off." Here's an example.I'll have a project open in Premiere, but am doing something else for some time.then I go back to the project to do work and the MyBook kicks in, starts spinning up, and I can't access the project until it fires up (usually a couple of seconds).I have an older ballistic orange 2 Terabyte LaCie Drive that kept falling asleep when pausing a movie, using it as a scratch disk or even in the middle of a search. You can easily select which disks you wish to. I've noticed though that Premiere accesses the drive and it slows things down, sometimes causing stuttering in preview, or even just hesitating before opening up a project while the MyBook spins up. Disksomnia prevents hard drives from going to sleep by periodically writing files to the disk to keep it active. I also have a WD MyBook Duo I use as external storage/backup, but I do NOT edit off of this drive. The genus contains 2025 species, distributed from Mexico to Argentina. The fossil record includes stems, pinnules, and spores. It is regarded as related to Cyathea, but is considered to retain more primitive traits, dating back at least to the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Everything I've checked in Premiere points to this drive (scratch disks etc). Dicksonia is a genus of tree ferns in the order Cyatheales. Icon animates when disks are being written to and there’s a countdown indicator to the next. By default, Disksomnia will write to disks every 55 seconds but you can now set a custom period (up to 999 seconds) to suit your particular disks. I use a Samsung 1TB SSD over Thunderbolt as a working drive. house located at 3768 Dicksonia Dr, Lexington, KY 40517 sold for 208,500 on Jun 25, 2020. Disksomnia now runs as a menu bar app with extremely low overhead and easy access to Preferences. I'm not 100% sure if this is a Premiere issue or a Mac issue.
